1. Scope
This policy applies to Samvidhanghar Library mobile applications, related websites, and services that reference this policy (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to this policy.
If you are using Samvidhanghar Library through a school/library/institution, your institution may have additional policies.
2. Account creation & authentication
Samvidhanghar Library does not support open public sign-up. Accounts are provisioned and managed by authorized librarians/superadmins.
Authentication methods
- Mobile OTP login: users authenticate using a one-time password (OTP) sent to their registered mobile number.
- Superadmin credentials: a limited number of authorized superadmin accounts may use a username and password for administrative access.
OTP messages are delivered via a trusted SMS gateway provider solely for authentication.
3. Information we collect
We collect information needed to operate library services, secure access, deliver notifications, and improve stability. Depending on your role and usage, we may collect:
- Identifiers: name (if provided), email/username, mobile number, user ID, library code/name.
- Authentication data: mobile number for OTP; encrypted credentials for authorized admin accounts.
- Library operations data: attendance, membership status, book issue/return records, and operational logs.
- Notifications: device notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) for delivering push notifications.
- Diagnostics & analytics: app interactions, performance data, and crash logs for product improvement (non-advertising use).
- Library location (optional): one-time capture of a library’s coordinates to place it on a map.
We do not collect contacts, call logs, or financial information through the app for core functionality.
4. How we use information
- To authenticate users (OTP-based verification) and secure administrative access.
- To manage library membership, attendance, and book circulation.
- To send service-related notifications (FCM).
- To maintain, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the Services (including analytics/crash diagnostics).
- To comply with legal obligations and protect the Services from misuse or fraud.
5. Location information
Location is used only to set the physical location of a library (one-time) for mapping and navigation. We do not share a user’s current and precise physical location with other users and do not perform real-time tracking.
7. Advertising
Samvidhanghar Library does not display third-party advertisements and does not use advertising identifiers for ad targeting.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards (access controls, secure transmission, and monitoring) to help protect information. Data is transmitted using encrypted connections (HTTPS).
9. Retention
We retain data only as long as necessary to provide the Services and meet legal, audit, and security requirements. Backup data, if any, is removed as part of routine cleanup typically within 30–90 days.
10. Your rights & choices
- You may request correction or deletion of your data.
- You can manage notification permissions via your device settings.
- If content is published with consent (e.g., success stories), you may withdraw consent and request removal.

11. Children & students
The Services are intended for users aged 13 and above and are used for educational/library purposes. Libraries and guardians may supervise access for students where applicable. We do not knowingly target children under 13.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our Services evolve. The effective date at the top reflects the latest version.
